The Challenge
Shalom is a music artist from Uganda who wanted a dedicated Android app for his fans to stream and download his music. He initially hired another developer, but the project was abandoned halfway through because the feature set was too complex for that developer to handle. The app required background playback, offline downloads, subscription management, playlist creation, and a full backend to manage all the content. Shalom reached out to me after the failed attempt, looking for someone who could take on the full scope and deliver a production ready app.
The Solution
I took over the project from scratch and built a native Android application using Java with a custom audio engine for reliable, high quality streaming and background playback. The app features a beautiful Material Design interface with music discovery, smart search, personalized playlists, offline downloads, and crystal clear audio playback. On the backend, I developed a full admin panel using Laravel where the client can manage all music, artists, albums, members, subscriptions, and push notifications. I handled the complete lifecycle from development and thorough testing to publishing on the Google Play Store.
The Result
The app launched successfully and has now crossed 10,000 installs on Google Play Store. Shalom has full control over his platform through the admin panel and regularly uploads new content for his growing fan base. The client has been a long term repeat client on Fiverr, consistently coming back for updates and new features.
